A Covenant of Grace
Read Genesis 8
Gen 8:21 “Never again
will I curse the ground because of man, even though every inclination of his
heart is evil from childhood.”
THE language of this chapter is full of
grace. For example, “Noah removed the covering from the ark” tells us of God’s gracious
design to protect the ark’s occupants from the heavy rains. “Bring out every kind
of living creature…so they can multiply” is the restatement of God’s grace to create
and recreate through his design. And when we read, “Noah came out, together
with his sons and his wife and his sons' wives.” we understand God has graciously
kept his promise of the purpose of the ark.
But
would the saved ones feel safe? Would Noah’s family be concerned of such a flood
again? Gracefully God promises to never again bring such destruction to the earth
and its living creatures. This is grace. Grace to save, grace to give life and
grace to promise he will preserve life.
But
you might say, “It wasn’t loving or gracious for him to destroy the earth.” And scripture replies, “The wrath of God is
being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men
who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19 since what may be known about
God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20 For since the
creation of the world God's invisible qualities — his eternal power and divine
nature — have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so
that men are without excuse.” (Romans 1:18-20)
That, my friends, is God’s grace to tell us what is wrong, so we will confess our wrongs and be safe by God’s grace with him.

God’s promise of salvation.
