Are You Ready?
Read Revelation 15-16
Rev 16:15 “Behold, I
come like a thief! Blessed is he who stays awake and keeps his clothes with
him, so that he may not go naked and be shamefully exposed.”
DO the plagues of Revelation
16 remind you of another time of God redeeming his people? See Exodus 7-11, and you’ll see the plagues
of Egypt that are similar and the same—water turned to blood, darkness, and
sores.
The theme of a “second
exodus” runs through Revelation. The
God of the beginning and of the end set his salvation in motion when he called
Abraham to be the father of numberless people. That people became Israel and
grew to over 1 million in population during their enslavement in Egypt. The
vision of uncountable people in Heaven and the plagues on the earth demonstrate
God’s power to create and to save. And the ultimate salvation of his people
from persecution tells us God reigns on his throne. All activity comes under
his hand, and we are not to trifle with him. If we doubt his ultimate authority
over our eternal lives, we will be judged and condemned.
Too often we live “asleep”
ignoring our sin and without fear of God’s judgment. We think, “I’m mostly good.
Certainly God wouldn’t condemn me!”
Wouldn’t he? Why
would he want someone who’s “mostly good”? If that were true, heaven would be
as earth. And what would then be the point of Jesus’ cross?
God has paid a
great cost for our souls. We must respond to the cost of our sin with a fearful
truth that we aren’t good enough. Only then will we seek the Savior and be
saved.
John warns us to
be prepared for the Judgment Day. Are you?
A Moment’s Thought: Only Jesus’ blood makes you “good
enough”.
