Love the Beauty
Exodus 37
Ex 37:11 Then they
overlaid it with pure gold and made a gold molding around it.
I was talking to a chemist, and he mentioned
how he had recently discovered the wonder of Psalms 119:64 The earth is filled with your love, O Lord; teach me your
decrees.
We talked of the many forms of the unending
chemical combinations that formed all of life and all of the minerals and the
soil. The chemist lives with an awe and wonder of God’s creative genius as he
views the world through this “chemistry lens”.
God’s
design on the tabernacle and its furniture is a perfect example of his love on
display. God’s instructions created a beautiful gathering place to worship. The
furniture, the Ark of the Covenant, the poles, the altar and all items are made
of the beautiful acacia wood, gold and overlaid with gold to enhance their
beauty. God in effect declared, “I’ve made this for your enjoyment, loved ones.
Go ahead. Use the wood, the gold and the fine linens. See the beauty, and see
my love for you as I show the richness of an earth I have created for you.
Yes,
the earth is filled with God’s love. From the minerals, to the sea, to the
plants, to the animas and to the earth’s extraordinary beauty, God lovingly
offers its beauty and variety to you. Behold God’s hand in the stunning
mountains, delicate flowers, multi-colored birds, the diamond, gold or silver
metals in your jewelry. See him in your fine leather boots. All that you have
comes from an earth filled with God’s love.
