September 24, 2013 Inexpressible Joy

Read 1 Peter 1

Inexpressible Joy

8 Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, 9 for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

YOU say, “I believe in Jesus, the Son of God, the Savior of the world.” How do you feel about that? Could someone write a letter to you and say, “You are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy?”
What do you think prompted Peter to write such words to the early churches? They knew in their hearts with an absolute faith that even amid earthly suffering they were on their way to eternal glory. As they faithfully kept their eyes on their Savior, little of the worldly concerns seem to matter to them. They had something eternal, which was the salvation of their souls.
How do you feel when someone does something really special and good for you? I love it when my children offer me their love with words and actions. I feel an inexpressible joy that they care for me and show their affection for me. I’m sure you feel the same way when people honor and love you.
Has Jesus honored you with his love? Yes he has! Has Jesus loved you to his own death that you will live forever? Yes he has! Has Jesus prepared your home in heaven? Yes, he has!
How do you respond? I pray you respond with an inexpressible joy. Look to your Lord’s love and see his gift of life. Be joyful amid life’s trials and tremors. They will end. Heaven will not.

A Moment’s Thought: Thank you, Jesus!
