A Savior Born!
Advent Day 16
Luke 2:10 But the
angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that
will be for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been
born to you; he is Christ the Lord.”
IS there a more wonderful message in the Bible than these
words? “Today in the town of David a
Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.”
The Messiah, who
is God, has come to earth. And note: “he has been born to you”. What do we do
with our lives when we understand this immortal truth? This is the truth that
gives our lives meaning. It is the truth that is the fulfillment of God’s
promise from ancient times: “I will take
you as my own people, and I will be your God” (Exodus 6:7). Yes, God has
come to be your God.
Feel the pleasure
of that truth in your life to Advent day. As you work, deal with the kids,
struggle with circumstances, get the estimate for the car repair, and figure
out your budget, know the Savior is born for you.
He is available to
you night and day. He offers his comfort and peace when you are in distress. He
offers his truth when you need to know where to turn. He gives you his strength
when you feel weak. He watches over you when others seek to harm you. He is
your God is so many, many ways.
Yes, Christ the
Lord, the One who saves has come to you,
personally. Celebrate this wonderful truth by turning to him with joy and
faith in your heart. This is good news of great joy. Accept it. Savor it. Let
it surround you. That is what the Savior’s love does when you turn to him now
and for all eternity.
Pause and Consider: has Jesus Christ been born into your
heart?
