Read Philippians 4:15-20
Filled with Blessing
15 Moreover, as you
Philippians know, in the early days of your acquaintance with the gospel, when
I set out from Macedonia, not one church shared with me in the matter of giving
and receiving, except you only; 16 for even when I was in Thessalonica, you sent
me aid again and again when I was in need. 17 Not that I am looking for a gift,
but I am looking for what may be credited to your account. 18 I have received
full payment and even more; I am amply supplied, now that I have received from
Epaphroditus the gifts you sent. They are a fragrant offering, an acceptable
sacrifice, pleasing to God. 19 And my God will meet all your needs according to
his glorious riches in Christ Jesus. 20 To our God and Father be glory forever
and ever. Amen.
OFTEN, as we hear of opportunities to donate to Christian organizations,
we ask, “Do they really need my money?” With a desire to be generous, it’s
difficult to know how generous to be, isn’t it? The best way to respond is with
specific prayers to seek God’s leading and to understand the Bible’s teaching
regarding your finances.
When Paul left
Philippi, the church kept supporting him. In fact, Philippi was the only church
of the many he helped start that cared for him financially. Philippi blessed
Paul with their offerings.
What will be God’s
response to Philippi? Paul says, “God
will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.”
In short, when you bless God’s workers with your offerings, God will bless you
in some way.
It’s true.
Countless people who offer as God directs them will testify how God has blessed
them. May your offerings be a fragrant offering to God.
A Moment’s Thought: Php 4:23 The grace of the Lord Jesus
Christ be with your spirit. Amen.
