August 21, 2013 Fruitful Word

Read Colossians 1:5-7

Fruitful Word

5 because of the hope laid up for you in heaven. Of this you have heard before in the word of the truth, the gospel, 6 which has come to you, as indeed in the whole world it is bearing fruit and growing—as it also does among you, since the day you heard it and understood the grace of God in truth, 7 just as you learned it from Epaphras our beloved fellow servant. He is a faithful minister of Christ on your behalf

HAVE you “understood the grace of God in truth”? In other words, do you believe that in his grace, God sent Jesus to the cross to redeem you of your sins? Do you believe, “if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. (Romans 10:9)
If so, then the Word of God bears the fruit of your salvation, doesn’t it? As each person in the world today came to confess and believe, God’s Word became even more fruitful. It is said that every day in the world 82,000 people confess their sins and believe in the resurrected Lord! Christ’s church is not dying. It is very alive and well worldwide. How wonderful it is to know in our hearts that the hope of eternal life is “laid up in heaven” for thousands of new believers today and billions of people worldwide and throughout time!
What is your role in bringing the Gospel to grow in your family and neighborhood, in your state and nation—perhaps even the world?  Will you be as “Epaphras, a faithful minister of Christ” on Jesus’ behalf? There are still billions of people who need Jesus.

A Moment’s Thought: Who told you the Gospel?
