Get Real
Read Malachi 1- 2
Mal 2:17 You have wearied the LORD with your words. “How have we wearied him?” you ask.
I LEFT off the last half of this verse because I want you to stop and consider the answer.
In what way might you have wearied the LORD with your words? Have you vainly spoken his name? “Oh, my _____!” is a common, vain phrase today. Have you prayed for forgiveness with empty words, knowing you’ll sin in the same way again? Have you promised him you’d be more faithful to him but not changed your ways?
Have you promised someone you’d care for them but left them waiting? Perhaps a shut-in or aged parent awaits your visit, but you call and say, “I’m too busy right now.”
Perhaps you sing, “I love you, Lord.” and you go to the bar and stare at the women. Perhaps you judge another for a sin you often commit.
The Hebrews needed to put God’s words on their heart and live in the fullness of his words. They needed to stop justifying their sin.
So do we.
Pause and Consider: why you may feel so weary today. Does something need to change in your life?
