Judgment is Real
Matthew 13 - 14
Matthew 13:40-43 As the weeds are pulled up and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of the age. 41 The Son of Man will send out his angels, and they will weed out of his kingdom everything that causes sin and all who do evil. 42 They will throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. 43 Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears, let him hear.
IS THERE any doubt Jesus will judge at the end of time? Look to these verses and be confident that indeed he will. Is this a harsh thing to know?
The truth is often hard to take. To absorb into our minds the knowledge that there is a day of God’s ultimate judgment is difficult for us. We deny finality. We always want one more chance.
Many also deny the judgment, thinking God is so loving he’ll just open the door and let everyone in, regardless of their lack of faith or lifestyle. Others think there is no judgment at all because there is no life beyond here.
These denials will only lead to the eternal horror of hell. Jesus clearly talks about evil and the devil in Chapter 13. He knows their realities. He knows the reality of judgment. He knows the promise of salvation.
He has come to earth to warn and to promise. We must trust his truths of judgment and salvation to the point it is a message we carry to the world in everything we say and do.
Show Jesus’ salvation to those in your lives. Prepare people for the judgment.
Pause and Consider: how you would respond today standing before Jesus, the Judge.
