Strong Body, Mind & Soul
Proverbs 14:4 Where there are no oxen, the manger is empty,
but from the strength of an ox comes an abundant harvest.
ARE YOU strong enough to do good work? This proverb speaks of strong oxen as the source of a good harvest. The oxen pull the plow and other tools to plant and harvest. Without their strength there is no tilling and harvest.
And thus it is with you. Without your God-given strength of mind and body, you have no tools to work, do you? I’d like to encourage you, then, to nurture and care for those working tools.
Yes, your mind is a precious source of strength to guide you to care for yourself and your family. Nurture your mind with knowledge to work well at your job. Learn as much as you can about your work to grow strong in understanding of what you do. Your strength of mind will bring a good harvest to you and your family from your work.
Take good care of your body, too. You need a strong body to work productively. Good health gives you strength to deal with each day’s challenges, and your good health increases your value to your employer and to your family. It’s easy, isn’t it, to let your body’s strength slip? You get too tired to exercise. You find little time to prepare good meals, and you sleep too little. Put a priority on your health and be strong of body.
Of course, I have to close with the third element of strength, and that element is your soul. Your soul is the means of your eternal life. Care for your soul with the strength of God’s truth.
It’s True! A strong body, mind and soul lead to a good “harvest” of life’s bounty.
