Read Proverbs 2
Wisdom: Get It
Prov 2:7 He holds victory in store for the upright, he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless, 8 for he guards the course of the just and protects the way of his faithful ones. 9 Then you will understand what is right and just and fair — every good path. 10 For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul. 11 Discretion will protect you, and understanding will guard you. 12 Wisdom will save you from the ways of wicked men, from men whose words are perverse, 13 who leave the straight paths to walk in dark ways, 14 who delight in doing wrong and rejoice in the perverseness of evil, 15 whose paths are crooked and who are devious in their ways.
YOU talk a good deal about doing what is right and being wise, don’t you? At least I hope you do. No, even more than that, I implore that you speak of what is right, and you are wise. Why?
The proverb celebrates the victory of wisdom, but it also warns of the horrible, evil alternative to wisdom. Read verses 13-15 and see where evil leads. Perverse words, dark paths, delight in wrong, rejoicing in evil perverseness and devious, crooked pathways. In short, life without wisdom is a life that will destroy you and your loved ones.
What do you do? You pick up the Word of God and get wise. You must. You want to save your family? You want to save your own life? You want to protect what is most precious to you? Then get wise. Fill up your life with Jesus and his ways. When you know what is good, you will turn out evil from your life. Lock out evil. Lock in wisdom and live.
It’s True! Wisdom in Jesus is victory.
