“Perform
a Miracle.”
Exodus
7
Ex 7:8-9 The LORD
said to Moses and Aaron, 9 “When Pharaoh says to you, ‘Perform a miracle,’ then
say to Aaron, ‘Take your staff and throw it down before Pharaoh,’ and it will
become a snake.”
CAN you imagine the conversation Aaron and
Moses had on the way to Pharaoh’s court after God had told this to them?
Aaron
says, “You mean to tell me, Moses, that this staff in your hand will turn into
a snake? That’s crazy! Can we trust God to do this?”
And
Moses would likely say, “It is crazy, Aaron. But I believe we can trust God on
this, and I’ll tell you why. I’ve seen God do some weird things. He burned a
bush, but the fire didn’t consume the bush. He made my hand leprous, and then
he healed it. He turned my staff into a snake that day, too. I’ve seen him do
this and more. We can trust him
today. Let’s throw down that staff and see what God will do!”
Moses
had seen God at work, and he trusted God to do miracles again. Moses went to
the highest power on earth, and he took the highest power of heaven with him.
The
Apostle Paul wrote to a church in Corinth to tell them how to move through
their trouble to more faithfully trust God. He said, “love always protects,
always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” (1 Cor 13:7)
God’s
love was with Moses and Aaron that day to demonstrate his portecitng power that
they could always trust him, always hope in him, and always persevere through a
faith in him.
It
worked for those men that day, and it works for all mankind every day when you
really do trust God to conquer the threatening powers in the world with the
power of his love.
LIFE Link: Loving God is actively trusting
him.
