Kingdom Key
Matthew 16:19 “I will
give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be
bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”
IMAGINE you are working for a very rich and powerful person.
Her knowledge is key to the business’ beginning, growing and prospering. You
have worked closely with her on many projects and have learned a few things
from her. Then, suddenly one day, she turns to you and says, “I give you the
key knowledge you need to run the business. I will be leaving you soon, and you
will have the responsibility and authority to use my knowledge for my business.”
That is
essentially what Jesus told his disciples. Declaring, “I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven.” Jesus informs
the disciples they will have the key knowledge to do the will of God on earth
as it is in heaven.
The apostles’
teaching will be foundational to Jesus’ church. God’s Word is the key that will
loosen people’s hearts from sin’s bondage. The Word will also exclude or lock
people from the Kingdom as they refuse to confess Christ. The Word is key. The
Word is foundational. The Word is the expression of God to declare salvation
and judgment to the world. The disciples will speak, and Jesus will reveal his
authority through the Spirit. The disciples will speak, and all will be done
under the authority of the King.
As you confess
Christ in the same way Peter did in Matthew
16:16
“You are the Christ, the Son of the living
God.” know you, too, have been given great knowledge. And Jesus has given
you a great command. Speak God’s Word. Use your Bible. Memorize scripture. Build
His church one teaching at a time.
