Integrity
Matthew 11:1 After
Jesus had finished instructing his twelve disciples, he went on from there to
teach and preach in the towns of Galilee.
CONCLUDING his Sermon on the Mount, a compelling message
about how to live a Christ-centered life, Jesus said this in Matt 7:24-27 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of
mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the
rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against
that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26
But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice
is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain came down, the
streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with
a great crash.”
And let’s look at
God’s words to Solomon in 1 Kings 9:4-5 “As
for you, if you walk before me in integrity of heart and uprightness, as David
your father did, and do all I command and observe my decrees and laws, 5 I will
establish your royal throne over Israel forever, as I promised David your
father when I said, ‘You shall never fail to have a man on the throne of
Israel.’”
See three
connecting phrases from these three scriptures: “He went on from there to teach and preach in the towns of Galilee.” “Everyone
who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who
built his house on the rock.” and “walk before me in integrity”.
Jesus led with
integrity. He taught, and then he did what he taught. Integrity leads to a true
life that weathers the storms in the power of God’s Word.
