August 25, 2010 Do His Love

August 25
Do His Love
Read Matthew 7-9

Matt 7:24-27 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”

PUT JESUS’ words into practice. What “words of mine” is Jesus talking about?

He has just given us a sermon—the Sermon on the Mount we call it. His message about trusting God and his Kingdom with totally new thinking. Jesus talks about devoted marital relationships, being generous, not judging but loving, trusting God, worshiping God in quiet time and “much more”.

Now he has one more point to make: Do these words. I always like to say, “Do his Love.” Jesus coming to earth is God doing his love over us.

Now he wants us to respond to love action and put his teachings into practice. Doing God’s love brings bounty to our lives. Responding to God’s love casts deep roots into our relationship with him. We receive life-giving nourishment from God’s eternal love to love others for him. When you do his love, you change forever. When you do his love, you will change others’ lives forever.

How will you do God’s love today?
