Read Daniel 1 - 3

Daniel 1:17 To these four young men God gave knowledge and understanding of all kinds of literature and learning. And Daniel could understand visions and dreams of all kinds.

Daniel 2:27 Daniel replied, “No wise man, enchanter, magician or diviner can explain to the king the mystery he has asked about, 28 but there is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries.

Welcome to this joyful book of faith. In Jeremiah we saw prophecies of Israel’s upcoming exile. In Ezekiel we saw the prophecies during the exile. And now we hear the story of one Daniel and his friends during the exile. Enjoy your time with Daniel. Read this amazing story that reaches from ancient times to the end of time.

HOW CAN you not warmly embrace Daniel and his friends who warmly embraced God? God gave them knowledge of him and faith in him to bring glory to his name.

God began this by causing King Nebuchadnezzar to have a very disturbing dream. Then God put in King Nebuchadnezzar’s mind to issue harsh punishment to the liars and false prophets. Here is an opportunity for Daniel and his friends to show God to the pagan world.

And Daniel did it! With his life on the line, Daniel turned to God. Daniel gave credit to God. And Nebuchadnezzar praised God.

That’s how it works. Think of this: a pagan praises God when God’s people had so long rejected him. God does bring glory to his name and his purposes. He uses whomever he chooses to do so.

How is God calling you today to show him to a pagan world? Are you ready to respond as Daniel? Do you see how Daniel first prayed for help, waited for the answer, then acted on it? This is a good pattern to use. The LORD is greater than all that opposes him—even your doubts. Trust that truth and tell the world who he is.
