August 8, 2014 Jesus the Merchant

Jesus the Merchant

Matthew 13:45-46 “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. 46 When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it.”

JESUS compares the Kingdom to a man who buys and sells for profit. The Kingdom of God is a merchant who found a pearl of great value and sold everything he had to buy it.
How can a kingdom be a man? It can be so as the man is the God who became man, Jesus, the King of the Kingdom of God. Jesus is the embodiment of the Kingdom of God on earth. His ministry inaugurated the Kingdom purpose on earth that God’s will of salvation for his elect would be accomplished. God’s people are of great, great value to the King. They are so valuable that, “God took the sinless Christ and poured into him our sins. Then, in exchange, he poured God's goodness into us!” (2 Corinthians 5:21 Today’s Living Bible)
In God’s will, “not my will, but yours be done” (Luke 2:42) Jesus submitted to the cross to pay the unfair exchange rate to purchase mankind’s worthless sin with his rich holiness.
And now the King reigns in majesty in joy and splendor, welcomed to the Father’s throne. His joy becomes complete as he welcomes his great purchase into his eternal possession. He calls us “friend” as we are his own, in our King’s possession forever.

LIFE Link: And when, before the throne, I stand in Him complete, Jesus died my soul to save, My lips shall still repeat. Jesus paid it all. All to him I owe. Sin had left a crimson stain. He washed it white as snow. (The hymn I Hear the Savior Say)
